Tim was tired of waking up a 4 a.m. it seems like every night wondering where his next customer is going to come from!

Tim is now beginning to understand that it does not matter one iota that he's the top contractor in his city... as evidenced by the glowing testimonials hung up in his office.

It doesn't matter how good he is, at what he does... if he didn't find a consistent, reliable way to get new customers, he'd go BROKE!

"Maybe my Val-Pak inserts will be promising this time...I better give Susan a call to check in", Tim wondered as he called to check in with his secretary at his small office that he rents to manage his business.

But something was wrong... nobody was answering the phone!

This was serious, because all of Tim's advertisements directed any interested prospects to call his office for an appointment! So where was Susan?

Tim later found out that Susan left him a phone message he failed to get... she has been out sick the last 2 days and probably won't be coming back in until next week!

Tim sat there, dismayed.

"Man, there's gotta be a better way to manage all this!"

Tim was forced to "call in a favor" to his sister, to man the phones, just in case someone were to call in from the Val-Pak advertisements.

Another sinking feeling hit Tim...

For the few poor leads that would have trickled in from his Yellow Pages advertisement, they surely were lost forever... with Sue not being there to greet these potential new prospects, these last few days !

His Yellow Pages ad was another source of major frustration for Tim:

$800 per month and hardly anything to show for it!!!

He should have known better... he should have listened to the sick feeling in his gut that was trying to tell him something...when the ad rep they told him that he'd be locked into a 12 month commitment!

He just wasn't happy with the ad THEY came up with!

It was frustrating, because to Tim... it just looked like all the rest... Why would anyone call it?

But conventional wisdom told him that any smart business NEEDS to have a Yellow Pages ad!

And the ad rep assured Tim that their ad department was "really good" at creating these types of advertising layouts.

"I should have taken more time with the wording of the ad... anything would have been better then what I got stuck with!", Tim thought.

"But then... what would i have said? It's not like I'm a marketing genius... After all..."

What about Mike? Well...

He gets to see his kids off to school every day, and only really needs to work about 4-5 hours per day, Monday to Friday (reserving Thursdays for golf during the golf season) !

And when he wakes up each morning, waiting on his fax machine or e-mail are new jobs scheduled for the next 3 weeks!

And these aren't the cheap jobs either!

Tim waved goodbye to his old friend and left the donut store in frustration...
